Kristiina Ovaska, Photographer Of The Haida Gwaii slug

Kristiina Ovaska, Ph.D., is a biologist from Victoria. She studies slugs and snails. In 2002 she discovered a new slug on Haida Gwaii. When I first learned of the slug in 2003, I was told it was a jumping slug. Now biologists know it is actually a completely different slug altogether. Right now it is being called Staala gwaii (island slug). Kristiina Ovaska has written a paper about it to help make the name official.
